The drive to End Polio forever is Rotary's number one global humanitarian project. In readiness for International End Polio Day (October 24th), lace up your walking shoes and join the Glenferrie Gallopers as we step out to help End Polio! Our team walk sets off at 10:30 am on Saturday, 11th October from Fairview Park, Hawthorn, following a flat and scenic 3.5 km route along the Yarra. Register today, order your End Polio t-shirt, and let’s make a strong team presence for this important cause!
The Glenferrie Gallopers End Polio Walk kicks off at 10:30 am on Saturday, 11th October 2025. We’d love for you to register and walk with our team.
1. Start Point
• Fairview Park, Fairview St, Hawthorn
• Parking available at Wallen Reserve Carpark (off Power St) and surrounding streets.
2. Route (approx. 3.5 km, flat and scenic)
1. From Fairview Park, head west along the Main Yarra Trail (keep the river on your left).
2. Pass by Morang Road Reserve and enjoy shaded paths, river views, and open parkland.
3. Continue along the trail past Burnley Oval.
4. Cross Swan Street Bridge and stay on the south side of the river briefly.
5. Exit the trail at Bridge Road / Burwood Road junction (Hawthorn end).
3. Return Options
• Walk back along the same trail (another 3–4 km, total 7–8 km round trip).
• Or leave cars at Fairview Park and Uber/Tram 75/48 back from Burwood Road to Fairview.
• Or have lunch at nearby restaurants

1 Nini’s Hawthorn (Mediterranean, large tables, group friendly)
– 302 Burwood Rd
2 Tinto (Spanish, tapas, shared plates, fun for groups) – 555 Burwood Rd
3 Hunky Dory Hawthorn (casual seafood, lots of seating) – 254 Burwood Rd
