No sign of Robert Winspear's Austin 7, but there was plenty of Morris at the first Boroondara Farmers Market for spring, one of the better attended first markets for the month for some time. Surely it was the burst of warm spring weather together with the jolly Morris dancing that brought out the punters. The Britannia Morris troupe, which dances the style of Morris Dancing originating in the Cotswalds, filled the air with the jolly sound of sticks clacking, accordion music and the occasional hoorah! And who wouldn't shout hoorah on the first Market day of spring!

Says Farmers Market Coordinator Wayne Worladge: "A rather chilly start to the day was more than compensated for by most pleasant sunshine later. We had an improved number of smallholders, and the best First Saturday patronage this year. Thank you to Shift Captains Carol Benson and Peter Moore, aided by Charles Tran, Helena Wimpole, Peter Harries, Kathryn Blakeman and Richard Blakeman. Thank you also to Simon Messenger and Garfield Lee who helped at pack up time."

The next Boroondara Farmers Market will be on Saturday September 17th. It is expected to be a big one, so bring plenty of bags!
The Britannia Morris entertain market goers at the Boroondara Farmers Market on September 2nd. What better way to welcome spring in the air than with a spring in your step!
