The turnover cycle in Rotary leadership positions has long represented a significant challenge for Rotary clubs implementing their long-term strategies. Bringing together current and incoming leaders of the club encourages continuity in planning and shows that collaboration and communication are the keys to maintaining a future strategic perspective. That’s why research shows us that clubs with strategic plans are more successful in engaging their members.

The first Three Year Strategic Plan 2017-2020 of RC Glenferrie was brought into the club in June 2017, and the club’s Board approved the Strategic Plan 2020-2023 on 25 August 2023. Three years on, RC Glenferrie is due for the Strategic Plan 2023-2026. Strategic planning is crucial as it’s a systematic process that helps the club set an objective for its future and determine how best to achieve it, particularly prioritising efforts and effectively allocating resources. For example, the Strategic Plan 2020-2023 set the goal of increasing our membership by net 10. We achieved the goal of increasing our membership by a net 16, from 38 in 2020 to 54 by June 2023. Today, 36% of our membership is female which is much more than the goal of 30%. In the coming months, Mark Howlett and the 2023-24 Board will lead the club, setting up the scope and processes to develop the new strategic plan. Dear Glenferrie Rotarians, please contribute your ideas to plan Your Club’s future.

RC Glenferrie Changeover 2023: Bookings will close for the Changeover by noon Monday, and I look forward to seeing many of our members and partners on 20 June at KLTC, to celebrate the end of our Rotary year and the changeover of club president from Teresa Liu to Mark Howlett. It will be an entertaining evening of celebration of the achievements of RC Glenferrie and the accomplishments of Glenferrie members this year.

District 9800 Changeover 2023 will be held on Saturday, 24 June 2023, at the beautiful venue: Hyatt Place, Essendon Fields. District Governor Amanda and District Governor-elect Ron look forward to welcoming as many District 9800 Rotarians, partners, and friends as we come together and celebrate Rotary.
