Your leftover foreign notes and coins can really make a difference!  If you have “spare” foreign currency languishing in your travel drawer at home, please consider bringing it to the dinner meeting on Tuesday 9th June and donating it to Disaster Aid Australia.   Let us explain……

Turning Travel Change into Life-Changing Projects

In past years, RCG members have contributed to the Rotary Foreign Currency Repatriation project coordinated by the RC Hornsby.   This project supports aid for international projects sponsored by Rotary International and has been in existence for more than twenty years.  Disaster Aid Australia has been the beneficiary of previous Club donations with funds used to assist international communities who have suffered from horrific disasters such as floods, earthquakes and fires.

The foreign currency collections are delivered to RC Hornsby via RC Keilor, the designated club in District 9800, and then with the help of Qantas, the currency is repatriated to the country of origin.  Donations are reconciled at the end of the financial year by RC Hornsby who let each Club know the amount of their contribution.

We set a target of $3,000 this financial year, and we will know very soon whether we were able to meet that figure.

Please bring your spare foreign currency to our 9th June Club dinner meeting as a donation to RI Disaster Aid Australia and help the Club meet this aspirational target.
