President's Message

Planning has started for the 2024 changeover to be held on June 25. It will be a special night to hand over to the new leadership team led by Peter Moore. Invitations will be available in the coming weeks.

Very soon many members will be going to Bendigo for the conference. Thanks to Anita for coordinating the friday dinner and transport.

Could we ask all members who to take photos of Rotarians in action share them with Richard & Chris (photos should be full size) so that our publications are up to date.

Cheers,
Mark

Tall Ship Sailing Challenges Helps our Youth

Do you, or someone connected with your club, know a young person aged 15 to 18 years who would benefit from facing the life-changing challenges experienced from learning to safely sail a tall ship at sea?

And would your club sponsor them?

Check out our video at: vimeo.com/828257288

The Rotary Foundation Peace Fellowship
Each year, The Rotary Foundation awards fellowships to leaders in peace and development to study at one of the Rotary Peace Centers at premier universities around the world. These fellows can earn either a master’s degree or a postgraduate diploma through the professional development certificate program in related disciplines.

District Rotary and Rotaract Clubs play a key role in recruiting and recommending Rotary Peace Fellow candidates.  Your club can help mid-career change-makers and young professionals who have peacebuilding experience apply for a fully funded Rotary Peace Fellowship.

March is Water and Sanitation Month
Clean Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Education
Clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education are basic necessities for a healthy environment and a productive life. When people have access to clean water and sanitation, waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and attend school more regularly, and mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families

HOW ROTARY MAKES HELP HAPPEN - Through water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) programs, Rotary’s people of action mobilize resources, form partnerships, and invest in infrastructure and training that yield long-term change.

The Almoner
The Almoner acts as a liaison person with the President, Secretary and Membership director to establish if any individual members are experiencing personal problems, such as illness, either themselves or a family member, or requires any personal assistance or support. It can also be good thing if we learn of events such as, members having babies we can send our congratulations.

Individual members are encouraged to contact the Almoner as soon as they become aware of difficulties being experienced by anyone in the Club. Contact will be made with the individual member to offer support and assistance. Furthermore, the Almoner will also send an email in some cases letting our members know if a past member has died. In this case an email will be sent to all members advising of the death and also provide details of the funeral.

Thelma will be Almoner until Changeover where then Chris Raw will take over.

LoL
  • Why did the Easter Bunny bring a ladder to the party? Because he heard the drinks were on the house!
  • Did you hear about the egg who went to therapy? It had shell shock!
  • How do you get a bunny to work overtime? Simply raise its celery.
