We were lucky to hear from a fellow Rotarian, Steve Crosling about ShelterBox. This organisation provides shelter, essential items and technical assistance to help some of the world’s most vulnerable people recover and rebuild their homes after disaster. ShelterBox listens and adapts its support to the needs of each community, working together with those affected by disaster. Countries assisted include Myanmar, Syria and Gaza.

On 28 July, our club had the privilege of hosting Steve Crossling, an Official Ambassador for ShelterBox Australia, who delivered an insightful and moving presentation about the charity's disaster relief work around the world.
Steve began by introducing ShelterBox’s core mission: to ensure that no family is left without shelter after a disaster. He explained how the organisation responds to earthquakes, floods, tsunamis, and conflicts by providing emergency shelter and essential survival items. To date, ShelterBox has supported over three million people across nearly 100 countries, tailoring each response to the specific needs of the affected community.

As a Peacebuilder Club, the Rotary Club of Glenferrie will host a famous sausage sizzle at Bunnings Hawthorn on Saturday 12th to raise funds for ShelterBox, the global humanitarian organisation that began with an idea from just one Rotary club in the UK.
ShelterBox provides emergency shelter and supplies for people just like you and me who are suffering after a natural, or man-made, disaster. Right now, over 120 million people around the world have been made homeless by disaster and conflict. ShelterBox is working to change this. By providing emergency shelter and tools for families robbed of their homes by disaster, ShelterBox is transforming despair into hope. Please help! Volunteer now. The Rotary Club of Glenferrie’s Sierra Leone project took to the airwaves on Friday 31 July, when the Rotary and Community Service Radio Show on 94.1FM 3WBC featured interviews with Amelia Anderson, Immediate Past International Service Director, and Taplima Muana of our project partner, the Rotary Club of Bo, Sierra Leone.
Together, they told the inspiring story of a Rotary partnership that has brought sanitation facilities, clean running water and improved hygiene to the children of Aladura Primary School in eastern Sierra Leone. It’s a wonderful story ofcollaboration, commitment and friendship across continents, and, best of all, the delight of the children whose lives have been changed.
It may sound surprising, but one tap of the "Like" button on Facebook can help promote the Rotary Club of Glenferrie to hundreds, or even thousands, of people. That's because Facebook doesn't simply display every post to everyone. It uses sophisticated algorithms and artificial intelligence to decide which posts deserve a wider audience.
When our posts receive plenty of likes, comments and shares, Facebook recognises that people are engaging with them and rewards that activity by showing them to many more users. The opposite is also true. Posts that receive little engagement are quickly pushed aside and seen by far fewer people. In other words, every click really does count.
RAWCS is a funding engine for Rotary projects, enabling clubs to attract tax-deductable donations from donors both within Rotary, and beyond. But it's a bit more than just that.

The start time shall be at 9.00 for 9.30 start completion no later than 4.00pm.
There shall be space for interesting RAWCS Project Displays with the usual start at 8.00 -8.30am commencement for set-up. No need to register. Just turn up. This is an opportnity for club Avenue of Service chairs and committee members to find out just how to attract finance to make things happen.
This club dinner meeting on is dedicated to a Club Forum, the purpose of which is to obtain feedback from members in all aspects of club activities and to provide information, particularly to new members, of the many programs in which the Rotary Club of Glenferrie is involved. In addition to providing impactful programmes our club should provide an enriching, stimulating and enjoyable environment for members, who hopefully feel that they are part of something worthwhile.
