President's Message
What a great visit we had to the MCG. The iconic sports venue is dotted with history and stories, and after all these years is still in such good shape (perhaps a result of all the upgrades!).

Also, thanks to have Ian Salek and Michael Berry take us for the tours.

As a Kooyong member, I thought I would reassure RCG members that Kooyong appears to moving ahead nicely in dealing with the loss making year last year. This we hope would equate to value for money service in the future. A few members did mention that we should only be having one pasta night per month and this feedback has gone to Joanne at club ser vice to check.

Please get your registrations in for the changeover on June 25th.

See you all soon.

President Mark

A Great Trip to the MCG
About 15 Rotarians and friends enjoyed amazing tours of the MCC on Tuesday, conducted by two official guides dressed in their colourful blazers. (Michael Berry and Ian Salek). The tours included the long room, stands, change rooms, media rooms and the room they do the post-match interviews in, with the coaches. Also, evident were the amazing banks of pink lights to help grow the grass at this time of the year. A lunch in the Hugh Trumble Cafe was well received.

Singapore Convention - Dining Out
Sensational lunch with Rotary colleagues on the 57th Floor of the Marina Bay Sands Hotel.

Opening ceremony commences at the Rotary International 2024 Singapore. Inspiring, uplifting, proud to be a Rotarian with RC Glenferrie.
Farmers Market Moment
It was all smiles as the sun poked through the clouds at the first winter Farmers Market for the year on June 1st. There was a steady stream of customers too, all looking for fresh produce and a chance for a coffee and a chinwag under the trees at Patterson Reserve. And why not I say!

Garfield Lee, left, and Dr Paul Shekleton, right, kept Honorary Member Newton Langford entertained at the front gate on June 1st. Sunny but chilly!
Thank You and Farewell
Rotary Glenferrie extends much appreciation to the following people for their significant contributions in many ways; their fellowship has also been very much enjoyed.

  • Catherine Eagleson:  Joined RG on 27 July 2022; transferred to Rotary Maroondah
  • Colin George:  Joined RG on 16 August 2022; retired from Rotary
  • Peter Harries:  Joined RG on 24 March 2015; retired from Rotary

We’ll miss these previous members to whom we say farewell and we wish them all the best for the future.  May our paths cross again.
The Polio Plus Society in D9800 and End Polio
Polio eradication is a real success story for Rotary. However, there is still a lot to do, and your support is required. We have made great progress in recent years, with a new novel Polio vaccine and cases of wild polio and vaccine derived polio cases are very low. When the task is completed, Rotary and Rotarians will be recognised for our wonderful part in eradicating Polio from the world.

Everyone is welcome to come along to this Afternoon Tea to hear about the wonderful work, progress made and what the future holds. Joining the Polio Plus Society is not essential but we would love you to join. It will be a great afternoon of information, degustation and celebration.

  • My mom died when we couldn’t remember her blood type. The last thing she said was, “Be positive.” But it’s hard without her.
  • Today at the bank, an old lady asked me to help check her balance. So I pushed her over.
  • I childproofed my house. Somehow, they still got in!
  • Before my friend Frank died, he asked that I store his ashes in his favorite beer mug. His last wish was to be Frank in stein.
