Club Changeover 2024

President's Message

Just recently I have sent a personalised invitation to our honorary members for the changeover dinner. In this invitation, I have offered on behalf of the club to pick and drop off any honorary members (and will seek member assistance for that offer!). Our honorary, and long standing, members have contributed so much to the club and local and international communities, over our nearly 50 years. We should recognise that every chance we get.

Can I ask members to please get your registrations in for the changeover; that would assist the committee with the planning. I would also like to reinforce that we have an immediate need for bread run volunteers. I am also very much looking forward to seeing members at the MCG.

President Mark

MUNA
MUNA stands for Model United Nations Assembly, which simulates the workings of the UN Assembly, by having teams of two senior students from each of a number of schools, represent a particular UN country. Here they debate resolutions on matters of world political and social concern. It is a Rotary International program and enthusiastically supported by the United Nations.

We had two students from Sacre Couer attend the competition on the weekend 18th & 19th of May. They represented New Zealand and debated resolutions that impact that country. They also had to wear clothes common to New Zealand.

Camp Getaway - Working Bee in August
This is an email to all Club members to provide some further information regarding sleeping arrangements for the work party. The sign-up page is up on the club website - click here - and press read more for the attached outline of the camp describing the range of accommodation.

I have not been to a work party at Camp Getaway, but I've been assured by Ken Maxfield that a good time is had by all participants. In the past, weekends have usually commenced with a pub meal at the Axedale Hotel with the possibility of some golf during the Friday afternoon. There are tasks to suit all physical capabilities and the jobs usually run throughout Saturday and on Sunday morning.

So, please consider setting aside this weekend and book a spot. I will be away for 6 weeks and Maria Pantling, the incoming Director of Community Service, will be able to answer any queries.  To sign up for the Rotary Camp Getaway Working Bee in August, Click here.
