President's Message
The members are obviously the life blood of any Rotary Club. It's no secret that one of the challenges Rotary is facing is a gradual decline in membership. Attraction of new members and retention of existing members is the major focus of our membership committee, under the able leadership of Anita Morkans. They are constantly working on strategies to recruit new members and keep our current members. However, it is not just the responsibility of the committee.

Jessica Leigh & Neyeli Vithanage - MUNA 2024
We were entertained by Jessica Leigh & Neyeli Vithanage, students from Sacra Couer College. Jessica & Neyeli recently represented the Rotary Club of Glenferrie at the Model United Nations Assembly, hosted by the District Youth Program. Farmer's Market - 31st August
The Weather gods continue to hold us in disregard, but despite that, attendance was quite good. Several stallholders had to withdraw due to trees over the road or lack of power.
Thank you to Shift Captains Garfield Lee and Peter Moore, ably assisted by Alex Marshall, Chris Raw, Richard and Kathryn Blakeman, Jerzy Ordega and Simon Messenger. Thanks also to ACCRU volunteer Kate Derham.

Let us hope for better weather on the 7th of September!

Power Assist Basketball
Some of our members may recall Mike Englefield of the Eltham Rotary Club speaking to us about this competition 18 months ago. The competition was started in 2002 to provide sporting opportunities to assist building the self-esteem of individuals with intellectual disability or who are otherwise disadvantaged. We were invited to become involved as many of the games are played at MLC in Kew.
