Reaching out to Other Clubs One of the benefits of Regionalisation is expected to be better relations and more cooperation with other clubs in the area. One practical way we can do this is supporting events run by other Clubs. The Rotary Club of Hawthorn Lift the Lid lunch on 25 October at Kooyong is a signature event for Hawthorn which we can support. There are details elsewhere in this bulletin, however Past President Mark Howlett is looking to organize a table. Let him know as soon as possible.
"It was a great honour to be invited to the flag raising ceremony held today to mark Indonesia's Independence Day, at the Victorian/Tasmanian Indonesian Consulate in Queen Road, St Kilda. I was there to receive an award on behalf of the Sumba Eye Program (SEP). Konfir Kabo, our major sponsor was awarded a top award for his work in Foreign Affairs for Indonesia. The rain held out, but it did start drizzling down. This is the first event here since Covid stopped all gatherings in Melbourne."
We are looking for your support for this very important Club Event. The working committee is putting together a program of entertainment, fun and fund raising which take the form of a Silent Auction where it is the highest "silent bid" which gets the item. This can also be great fun as you try to outbid your fellow Rotarians and guests. It is also intended to have a Live Auction for at least one high-end product (to be announced when confirmed).

RC Glenferrie has participated in this program for many years under the leadership of John Hudson. During this time Club members have donated unwanted foreign currency notes or coins left over following overseas holidays.
The RC of Hornsby in NSW are the lead Club managing this project which has been operating for 24 years. Unwanted foreign notes and coins collected by all participating Clubs are passed onto RC Hornsby through RC of Keilor East D9800, who repatriate them and make donations to a range of international projects including, Shelter Box for Ukraine, Rotarians Against Malaria, ROMAC, Disaster Aid Australia program or a RAWCS project.

It is with immense gratitude and humility that I accept the role of the new Governor of District 9800. My experiences with Rotary have been nothing short of magical. Growing up with dreams of being a singer, I eventually became an IT project manager and was introduced to Rotary by Stephen Lake (RC Melbourne). Initially hesitant and intimidated, I found my place thanks to the unwavering support of mentors like John Meehan and PDG Neville John. At Rotary Central Melbourne Sunrise (RCCMS), I struggled to find my fit until I became the Youth Chair, aligning my passion for youth engagement with Rotary’s mission.
