President's Message

We had a very pleasant gathering last Tuesday evening in the park. So nice to catch up with friends after a long break.

It's time for us to get back into the community service that is our mission (some of which didn’t stop over Xmas!). Farmer’s Market Saturday 3rd and please check the website for rosters for bread runs and meeting duties etc. I am sure Geoff will be checking on any playground removals and Alex and his team will advise of any community service projects. Amelia will have some international projects on the go, RIMERN and other activities to watch out for.

Great to be back at it.

Pleasant Tuesday Evening Kickstarts the New Year for Rotary Glenferrie
It wasn't a formal meeting but it was still a lot of fun as Glenferrie Rotarians and friends gathered in the evening sunshine at the historic Yarra Bank Reserve Playground, site of the Rotary Centenary play sculpture, to share tasty BBQ delights, sandwiches, cakes, fruit, glasses of wine and very tall stories, and welcome in 2024.  It's good to be back! (Photos courtesy of Rotarian Rod Smith. Thanks Rod!)

Clean Up Australia Day
CLEAN UP AUSTRALIA DAY: SUNDAY 3RD MARCH

A reminder to all members to save this date in their diary for our Club's contribution. This involves 2-3 hours of cleaning Patterson Reserve and some surrounding streets. The morning is followed by a BBQ, a glass or two of your chosen beverage and relaxed conversation. Usually, a very pleasant occasion.

Rimern Update

Rotary Inner Melbourne Emergency Relief Network (RIMERN) is always short of wanted items like toasters, kettles, stick mixers, microwaves, vacuum cleaners and clean doonas and pillows, so this 10c refund collections drive will help to provide spending money for these essentials.

If you have any further queries, just please get in touch with David Fallick or Anita Morkans.

LightWalker makes it all the way to Colombia!
Currently on holiday in Colombia, Anne Frueh recently sent back this message to the club regarding her new LightWalker walking stick. Says Anne: "My trusty light walker has been invaluable during our Colombian travels. I don’t think there is anywhere flat and a lot of our walking has been up sleep slopes and at altitude. This photo was taken from the top of San Felipe Fort well above Cartagena. The light on the walking stick was also appreciated as we explored the tunnels here. You have a very happy customer."

LightWalker walking sticks are available from the Rotary Club of Glenferrie at almost 50% off the recommended retail price. Order online at LightWalker stick with a torch, or purchase freight free at the Boroondara Farmers Market! Who knows where your LightWalker might take you!
