Register for the next meeting of the Rotary Club of Glenferrie

President's Message

This week I thought to remind or advise members of the many international fellowship opportunities that there are. There are many likeminded Rotarians from around the world that gather under an international fellowship banner and shared passion, to meet and swap stories and in many cases, gather together in some exciting ways and places. I have joined the IFMR (motorcycling) and IFSR (snow skiing) although have not had the chance or opportunity to engage in. Check out other opportunities at the following link:   Rotary Fellowships | Rotary International

This coming week I am presenting to the Hawthorn club about my India trip (still scheduled to present to you all in August) and will miss our own meeting.

Look forward to catching up soon.

President Mark

RC Glenferrie Shines Again
The Rotary Club of Glenferrie soared to unprecedented heights on April 16th, during the Riverside and Eastside joint cluster meeting held at the prestigious Green Acres Golf Club. This momentous occasion marked the culmination of the club's dedication and relentless efforts, resulting in the honor of receiving not one, but two distinguished awards from District 9800.

The first accolade bestowed upon the club was the prestigious 2022-2023 Rotary Citation, a testament to the unwavering commitment and tireless endeavors of its members throughout the year. This citation recognises the club's exemplary performance in engaging its members and maintaining relevance within the community, showcasing its proactive approach and impactful contributions.

Updated Arrangements for the Bread Run
The drop off arrangements for the Salvation bread delivery have changed for the better.

1. The key-safe code is now 1865. Please put this in your phone asap. Aide memoire: Salvation Army started in 1865!

2. The key-safe actually contains a key card which unlocks the rear door of the newly renovated hall, that is approached from the Salvation Army carpark off Athelstan Road. The entrance to the carpark is just before 4 Athelstan Road, where we previously delivered the bread. The key-safe is on a down-pipe adjacent to a blue bin to the left of the door into the hall. See attached photos.

3. Put the bread on the kitchen servery which is on your right as you enter.

4. The area is now well lit.

Please contact me with any queries. This email does not require a reply

Club Meeting Report - April 23rd 2024 - Carl Daley
We were well treated to an excellent analysis of the most intertwined renewable energy market by Carl Daley, with his talk “Current status of renewable energies- the risks and issues”.
The scope of the risks and issues, from availability of both solar home and commercial, wind farms, together with the interplay of declining coal fired power, gas, and the politically fraught nuclear, were expertly analysed by Carl.
