President's Message

We had an interesting evening at the last general meeting. Two girls, from Mandeville Hall, gave us a summary of the experience they had at the youth district project, MUNA (Model United Nations Assembly), which is held over a weekend in May. Students represented countries in dress and knowledge. Our students were given Russia. All students used research, debating and public speaking skills to address a wide range of relevant issues. Debate with other countries also often led to resolutions being made.

Bric a Brac Stall

Tuesday  November the 10th, at our general meeting, is the last time members can bring their donated goods to be sold at our stall at the Camberwell Market on the 15th of November.

We would like all items to have a price on them. It’s a good idea to have the price a little higher to allow for some bargaining. Anything that is fragile is best wrapped well to avoid breakage.

Christmas Trees

YOUR FARMERS MARKET NOW HAS REAL CHRISTMAS TREES

This year purchase your Christmas Tree from the Boroondara Farmers Market (BFM).

Three sizes: small (5 feet) $95, medium (6 feet) $120 and large (7 feet)$140* * We invite you to compare these prices with other suppliers.

Samples of all three size trees will be on display at the next, Saturday 21/11, market when you can order and pay. Your tree will be available for collection from the BFM site in early December. Well in advance, the collection date will be confirmed to all those who’ve ordered and paid.

These trees are locally grown in Officer so very short ‘tree miles’ and they’re so fresh, they’ll possibly stand up to greet you!

All proceeds to your Club and you’ll be paying significantly less for your tree.

So share these glad tidings with all your friends and neighbours but don’t delay, Christmas is nigh!

Christmas Meeting

Advanced warning is that our Christmas Party will be held on the 9th December at the Studley Park Boathouse as per last year's event.

There will be accompanying piano music and a chance for all to vent their vocal cords with some carol singing.

This year we will all sing from our tables - not getting a choir to sing - the idea is to get everyone involved.

Golf Day

Advanced warning that the Rotary Club of Glenferrie is holding a Golf Day at Kew Golf Club on Monday afternoon 31st May 2027.

The revenue raised will go to the various projects our club supports.  Presently we are after sponsors and auction items, please.

Quotes

If it's to be, it's up to me

If each of us would ask, "How might I best use my time, energies and talents to serve the larger world", we would transform this society and transform the planet.
